(I stole the sub-title from Steve.)
The horror of all horrors (for geeks like me) has occurred: they CGI’d the Original Star Trek! Bastards.
The WHOLE appeal of the original is its’ campy ridiculousness. The acting is bad. The story lines are see-through morality plays with obvious (and revolving) plot lines. And the scenery … oh, lord, the scenery!
If we lose the Styrofoam sets and cheesy star-ship models, we’ve lost the show. The morality plays and bad acting, when set against the backdrop of such a silly set come alive and seem charming. Against the backdrop of souped up CGI, they’re just crap.
