The Mind-Body Isomorphism?

Is the mind body connection an isomorphism?  That is, is there a one-to-one correspondence between them?  Maybe.

It is well known that physical changes to the body alter the mental representation of  it. Following amputation, for example, there is significant alteration of the somatosensory cortex, the part of the brain onto which the body is mapped. This relationship between the body and the brain is referred to as “bottom-up”. This study, however, points to a powerful “top-down” effect, and  therefore strongly suggests that this relationship is reciprocal.

This is in reference to a study that looked at how a person visually interperets their body affects how they percieve pain in relation to that area of their body.

How we view ourselves has a powerful effect on our overall well being.  We all know this to some degree.  But, it may turn out to be a far greater connection than we originally thought.
